Founded on Clarity, Not Hype
Phosphene was founded in Sheung Wan in 2016 by a small group of data scientists and systems thinkers who had grown tired of watching AI projects fail because of overpromising. The pattern was familiar: grand ambitions, rushed timelines, misaligned expectations — and teams left no better off than before.
We took a different approach. Before any project begins, we spend time understanding your organisation's actual situation — your data, your team, your processes, and the specific outcome you're hoping to achieve. Only then do we discuss what AI can realistically contribute.
Over the years, this careful, measured style has attracted clients across Hong Kong's retail, logistics, fintech, and media sectors. We've remained small by intention. Every engagement receives senior-level attention. We don't scale by diluting the quality of our thinking.
The name Phosphene refers to the light patterns you perceive when the eyes are closed — shapes that emerge from within perception itself. We chose it to represent what AI does at its best: surfaces patterns that were already present in your data, making them visible so your team can act on them.
